La Crosse Design Institute (LDI) Student assists LLA

For a teenager, creating a video can be a daily occurrence; for a small non-profit, creating a video can seem a monumental task.  Thankfully, because of La Crosse Design Institute (LDI) and eighth grader Sam Quackenboss, the Local Lupus Alliance has its first video to help teach people about lupus, the immune system, and autoimmune disorders.  The Local Lupus Alliance was thrilled to partner with the creative students of the La Crosse School District.

Quackenboss’ video is a brief two minute overview that simply explains the immune system and autoimmune disorders.  He worked with Local Lupus Alliance board members Dr. Douglas White, Chief Rheumatologist at Gundersen Health System, Christopher Mayne, PhD, Immunologist and Assistant Professor at Viterbo University and Richard Chrz, Executive Director of the Local Lupus Alliance and patient who suffers from lupus, as part of his research.  The video will be shown as part of Quackenboss’ project during the LDI showcase held on Thursday, February 25th, 2016 from 4-6PM, 1900 Denton St, La Crosse, WI 54601  (where all LDI students show their extended projects to the community).

“The Local Lupus Alliance is grateful for the wonderful community we live in where opportunities exist between nonprofits and organizations like the La Crosse School District, willing to work together to help grow awareness. A collaboration like this allows students to explore their interests while helping people in the community. We can’t thank Sam enough for sharing of his time and talents to help better the lives of those suffering from Lupus.” states Richard Chrz, LLA Executive Director
